Beechfield United Under 15’s Predators are just one more victory away from winning their third trophy in the Tameside Football League. Against Hough End Griffins a confident Beechy outfit held a 2-0 lead at half time thanks to a couple of goals from Brandon Kent. Hough End’s constant use of the long ball tactic eventually paid dividends in the second half when they made it 2-2. But United quickly put the pressure back on their opponents and were rewarded when Joseph Lydiate was on target to earn the Predators a 3-2 victory. Ethan Haynes and Joseph Lydiate shared the Man of the Match award. If Beechy get maximum points from their last JFC Sports Division fixture they will be title winners.

In the Bolton Bury and District League the Under 15’s Tornadoes completed their Section C fixtures with an evening away game at Atherton LR. Playing some highly attractive attacking football United took a deserved lead through Travis Walker but Beechy couldn’t sustain the momentum and after suffering the loss of two key players the Tornadoes were eventually beaten 6-1. Then six days later at the Eddie Davies Academy the Tornadoes met Atherton LR again this time in the final of the Players Cup. Missing important players Harry Cottrill and Tom Nelson Beechy produced a respectable performance but had to settle for runners-up medals following a 5-1 defeat. Mason White scored the consolation goal and Lucas Morgan was Best Player.

In the Under 11’s Tornadoes (9v9) versus Manchester Maccabi Vipers friendly match on Sunday Beechy created a good all-round team performance that included some excellent quick passing moves. United won the match with goals by Sam Jones, Brandon Wabayi, Ronan Courtney and Alan Kay.

At a rain swept Beech Farm Playing Fields the Under 9’s Typhoon entertained Manchester Maccabi Phoenix. In this Development Group Yellow Division fixture Beechy produced a poor first half display and conceded four goals but Jamie Withington did respond with a goal for United. Straight from the restart Beechy looked a different team and Man of the Match Sonny O’Brien netted two goals. The defence was better organised with Freddie Latham always a key figure but despite creating a host of chances United couldn’t find another goal to force a draw.

There were goals galore in the Under 9’s Lightning Development Group Green Division home game with Prestwich Junior Dragons. On target for Beechy were Charlie Harris, William Anderton and Sam Henderson.

Making the short journey to play De La Salle were the Under 7’s Tornadoes who enjoyed a narrow victory. Goal scorers in this Development Group Yellow encounter were Harry Jones, Anthony Hughes and Freddie Jackson. Voted Man of the Match was Josh Jemmett.

Player of the Match Ethan Harris helped himself to a hat trick in the Under 7’s Hurricanes Development Group Red Division game against neighbours Moorside Rangers Yellow who won
this ten goal thriller.

SALFORD AND DISTRICTS FOOTBALL LEAGUE FINALS.

Several Beechfield United Junior Section teams were involved in prestigious finals played at the home of Bury FC Academy. Faced with a tough task in the Under 14’s Supplementary B final were Beechy Storm who were up against Lymm Piranhas and despite a gutsy display United unfortunately suffered a 4-1 defeat. Aaron Gartley scored the Storm’s consolation goal and Callum Lomax was named Man of the Match.

Beechy Under 11’s Thunder (9v9) played Moorside Rangers Blue in the Supplementary Cup final and both teams were well disciplined throughout the match. Both set of defenders were on top of their game with Dominic Lawton United’s most prominent player. In the last ten minutes of this tense affair as the tempo increased neither side could find a winning goal. The players were suddenly faced with a tense penalty shoot-out and Jake O’Sullivan, Liam Cremins, Dominic Lawton and Jacob Lacey all converted their spot-kicks while keeper Reiss Miller saved two of Rangers spot-kicks to guarantee Thunder the victory. United’s squad on the day was Jake O’Sullivan (Captain) Reiss Miller, Sebastian Higson, Liam Cremins, Louie Percival. Dominic Lawton, Ishor Bajgai, Jacob Lacey, Harvey Walker, Samuel Oludoyi, Prince Idusuyi, Christopher Pearson, Toanga Mututa plus Manager Wayne Miller and Assistant Leon Leather.

The in-form Under 10’s Tornadoes met Winton Wanderers in the Supplementary Cup Red final and thanks to a brilliant display guaranteed another trophy for the Beechy cabinet. The Tornadoes who dominated the final scored numerous goals via Man of the match Kaiden McClean, Harley Davidson, Oliver Lomas, Jack Fitton, Theo Valentine and Charlie Mulvenna.

The Under 9’s Hurricanes went into their final with Parkwyddn Predators as clear favourites which can sometimes offers a huge incentive to the other team especially in terms of motivation. The energy from the Beechy players was electric and they took the lead after an amazing run by Dominic Lawton who’s effort hit the crossbar but Dominic calmly netted the rebound. Beechy were ahead and dominating the contest added two more goals via Ben Morris and Dominic Lawton then Josh Clough was fouled on the edge of the area and taking the free kick himself hammered the ball home for the Hurricanes fourth goal. The boys were applauded at the break by Manager John Taylor and Assistant Mike Worthington who reminded the players there was still another half to play. Within five minutes of the restart Josh Clough unleashed a powerful shot and United had a fifth goal but tiredness began to creep in and the Hurricanes keeper Harley Mullen who is probably the best goalie in the league showed his ability with a few great saves. At the final whistle the boys all huddled together in a circle shouting and singing Champions then running off the pitch to meet their parents before collecting their medals and the trophy.

United’s Under 8’s Tornadoes met local rivals Moorside Rangers Blue in the Supplementary Cup final and both teams displayed fantastic passion and commitment in a match played in totally the right spirit. So it’s well done to both Beechy and Rangers who provided the spectators with an excellent game of mini-soccer. Goals for the Tornadoes came courtesy of Aiden Lawton and Joshua Taylor who was the Referee’s choice for the Man of the Match award.
