POSTED: January 24 2018 19:44:10. By Keith Long - Six Goals Plus Three Points For In-Form United

Beechfield United's Saturday Morning Senior Team continued their run of good form with a 6-3 away win over Old Stretfordians. Making it five games unbeaten Beechy were 1-0 up after ten minutes when Kyle Wray sent a fantastic ball down the line with the outside of his foot. Max Leonard kept the move going and eventually played the ball back across the pitch to Kyle Wray who fired it into the net. On twenty minutes United increased their lead after a series of passes between the defence and midfield saw Joe Poyser superbly set-up Max Leonard and he calmly lobbed the ball over the keeper. Three minutes later the ball was played by a Beechy defender to Kyle Mears who's inch perfect pass was controlled by Roy Owen and he nonchalantly chipped the keeper for 3-0.

Beechy were rewarded with their fourth goal in the 35th minute after Tom Stott collected the ball in space and played it over the Old Stretfordians defence finding Max Leonard and his clinical finish left the keeper totally stranded. Old Stretfordians managed to reduce the arrears after an accurate through ball opened up United's defence and a lone forward slotted it past Beechy keeper Dan Lee. The action was fairly entertaining throughout the remainder of the match and it was Old Stretfordians who scored the next goal. On seventy five minutes one of their midfield players won possession and moving forward unchallenged hammered the ball home for his teams second goal.

United responded almost immediately following a corner that led to the fifth goal when Wes Pierce was involved in a neat one-two move and thanks to some clever footwork he was able to dispatch the ball into the top corner of the net. A quickly taken free kick in the 85th minute found Joe Poyser and he intelligently created the chance for Max Leonard to complete his hat trick with goal number six. The scoring ended in the last minute of normal time when Old Stretfordians won a free kick outside the area and the ball was superbly curled into the net by their player wearing the No15 shirt. Choosing United's Man of the Match was a difficult decision because there were outstanding performances from Roy Owen, Wes Pierce and Joe Poyser who provided the solid foundation to an excellent overall team display.
