POSTED: February 01 2017 22:26:19. By Keith Long - Four Goals For Sinnott In Dominant United Display

Thanks to another top-class display Beechfield United 1st Team secured an emphatic 6-1 home victory over Uppermill FC. The three points gained lifted Beechy up to ninth place in the Manchester League Division 1 table. Once again several players were unavailable due to various reasons so included in United's line-up was Gareth Mooney who was making is second appearance of the season. Winning a corner in the first minute Beechy almost went ahead but Rob Lockley headed a Jamie Sinnott flag kick just wide of the target. Uppermill looked fairly confident in the early stages and on one occasion central defender Patrick Beckett had to hammer the ball out of play to ruin the visitors chance of a goal.

Several promising moves by United were ruined when the final pass fell short of the intended target. Making his first real save was Beechy keeper Robert Harrison who showed a safe pair of hands following a long range effort by the visitors number seven. A great piece of skill by Alfie Belcher created a decent chance for Chris Ferris but United's midfield man was unlucky to see his swerving effort curl past the upright. Far too many stoppages threatened to spoil the contest and United continued to lack sharpness and fluency when in possession. Uppermill's most promising attacks came down the left flank but full back Andrzej Browne produced some great defending when under pressure.

Beechy grabbed the lead on twenty minutes when Carl Ravenscroft started a move with a perfectly weighted long ball to Jamie Sinnott who easily beat an Uppermill defender before setting up Alfie Belcher for a spectacular finish. Suddenly stepping up a gear Beechy forced some heavy defending from their opponents and displaying renewed confidence United went 2-0 up in the 39th minute. Louis Duff worked hard to win the ball via a well timed tackle and following a surging run delivered an accurate low cross and Jamie Sinnott scored from close range.

Another brilliant move created the third goal just before the break when this time Rob Lockley and Jamie Sinnott combined in a superb one-two and Beechy teenager Alfie Belcher with another terrific finish made it 3-0. Quickly finding their attacking rhythm United dominated possession as the second half unfolded and Uppermill were forced into defensive mode. An extremely cleverly disguised pass by Gareth Mooney opened up the Uppermill back four but after creating the perfect angle Jamie Sinnott fired the ball the wrong side of the post. But Jamie atoned for his miss after fifty minutes when he easily netted United's fourth goal following a superb piece of play from Chris Ferris.

Beechy were now playing with lots of energy and moving the ball around with both speed and accuracy totally outplayed their opponents. Uppermill worked hard to stay in the match but rarely threatened to unsettle United's back four of Andrzej Browne, Gary Wallis, Patrick Beckett and Carl Ravenscroft. More first-class counter-attacking from Beechy continued to find gaps in a fragile Uppermill defence and Alfie Belcher had a chance of a hat trick after racing onto Gareth Mooney's accurate through ball. Superb off the ball running from Louis Duff resulted in United racing into a 5-0 lead after Louis set-up Jamie Sinnott who completed his hat trick on the hour mark.

Three minutes later against the run of play Uppermill got what proved to be their consolation goal but Beechy quickly recovered from the mini setback and continuing to attack non-stop created chances galore as they outclassed the visitors. Via another accurate long ball through the heart of Uppermill's defence Gareth Mooney sent Jamie Sinnott racing clear unchallenged and United's Man of the Match executed a clinical finish for his fourth and Beechy's sixth goal on seventy minutes. United could easily have added more goals in the last quarter-hour and Jamie Sinnott was robbed of another goal when the referee blew for full time just seconds before the ball hit the back of the net.
