The 1ST TEAM kicked-off the 2017/2018 Season in the Manchester Football League on Saturday 12th August. United's opening Division 1 fixture was an away game against Pennington FC and goals by Craig Massey and Jordan Jones-Waite earned Beechy a 2-0 win. In the Manchester Saturday Morning League United's SATURDAY MORNING SENIOR TEAM faced a tough opening First Division game on Saturday 9th September when they travelled to play AFC Middleton. Damon Whitbread was voted Best Player and Scott Foulds, Wes Pierce and Dave Harrison were on target for United who suffered a 5-3 defeat. On Sunday 3rd September BEECHFIELD UNITED LADIES began their fifth successive season in the Greater Manchester Womens League away to Bolton Lads and Girls but Beechy ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 score line. Seven days later Beechy played Bolton Wanderers Ladies at Salford Sports Village and thanks to goals from Becky McDonald, Debbie Wright and Natasha Kerity celebrated a 3-2 victory. Stacy Partridge was Player of the Match.
Carl Ravenscroft and Jordan Jones-Waite fired in the goals as the 1ST TEAM made it two successive 2-0 victories when they met Manchester Central at SSV. (19/8/2017)
Making it a hat trick of Division 1 victories the 1ST TEAM briefly held top-spot in the table after their 3-2 away win over Elton Vale. On target with the goals were Jordan Jones-Waite, Rob Lockley and Mike Phythian (penalty) (26/8/2017)
Two of United's teams who play in the Bolton Bury and District League kicked-off their season. At home to Prestwich Marauders at Stott Lane the U/14's TORNADOES dominated a large percentage of this Section E fixture but were handicapped following injuries to two key defenders and were beaten 7-4. Goalscorers were Man of the Match Charlie Wallwork (2) Ellis Kenny and Mathew Bennett. Promoted to Section B the U/17's TORNADOES were also at home for their opening day fixture. Beechy led 2-0 and 3-1 but opponents AFC Dobbies Blacks fought back and made it 3-3 though the Tornadoes regained their grip on the game and sealed a deserved 7-3 victory. Troy Walker (2) Kai Mitchell (2) Mason White, Taylor Schofield and Louis Lawrence got the goals. (9/9/2017)
The Salford and District Junior League got their season underway and eleven Beechy teams were in action. At Littleton Road the U/16's STORM fought out a 3-3 draw with Urmston Town Ravens. Joe Cox, Tyler Davies and Fabian Yanny scored the goals and Josh Hayes was named Man of the Match. (23/9/2017)
Beechy U13's THUNDER were at home against Deans Tigers and making a positive start were rewarded with the opening goal through Jake O'Sullivan. Deans fought back and equalised but United quickly regained the lead when following a powerful solo run Prince Idusuyi produced a neat finish. There was little to choose between the teams though Deans got back level again making it 2-2 at the break. Deans looked the stronger team after the restart forcing Beechy to do some resolute defending. Finding fresh impetus Thunder led 3-2 after a tremendous free kick taken by Jake Glass and suddenly dominating the match Beechy added two more goals when Prince Idusuyi completed his hat trick. United led 5-2 with ten minutes remaining but due to complacency and a lack of discipline conceded three goals and were forced to settle for a 5-5 draw. (23/9/2017)
Away to Manchester Rovers in the Female County Cup were BEECHY LADIES who won this Round One tie. Controlling the game throughout Beechy led 2-0 at the interval limiting Manchester Rovers to just a few goal scoring chances. Following more good football in the second half United added three more goals to secure a comfortable 5-0 victory. Natasha Kerity (2) Nicola Rushton, Jennifer Mutch and Elina Parker scored the goals.
